Sobremesa translates culture through the angle of food. Sobremesa offers authentic, carefully curated experiences with in-depth, on the ground knowledge of each of its destinations.

We enrich the experience of our traveler guests, as well as the places our tours are held in. We highly respect the local cultures by emphasizing regenerative and honest tourism, and creating revenue for small, local businesses.

Our Values

Honest tourism is Sobremesa’s cornerstone. We firmly believe that food is a gateway to a culture, offer our guests access to a region through its food, bypassing the stereotypes and tourist traps today’s globalized world is full of. We have done the groundwork for our guests so that they can relax and enjoy, trusting that what they are experiencing is the real deal.

Translating Culture through food is our motto. Every time we share the table with others, we are offered the opportunity to translate our own cultural backgrounds, experience new ones, share and learn from each other. Our expert guides are extremely familiar with the cultures of destination as well as the culture of our guests.

Regenerative tourism is a step beyond sustainability. Whereas sustainable tourism aims to leave the place the same, regenerative tourism aims to improve it. We make an effort to seek out small business and producers in local sites, to contribute to the local economy in regenerative ways.

Our Uniqueness

We are excellent mediators between cultures; we know the culture of origin just as well as the culture of destination. This combination is rare.

We use food as a gateway to culture. It’s so much more than just what’s on the plate.

We have a wealth of insider knowledge on our destinations: places and people our guests would most likely not be able to access on their own, with just a guidebook or the internet for research.

We do on-the-ground research and curate our experiences and tours very carefully and with high standards.

Our guests highly value our expert knowledge of the cultures of destination because they would be unable to find such a curated experience tailored to their interests, and an authentic perspective of the culture of destination without our guidance.
