When we were scouting out the Bay area, while still living in Barcelona, one of the reasons why I concluded Berkeley was a place I could live in was that one could have fine tea, well served (yes, I'm that much of a tea geek). Ever since I first walked into Teance on that memorable discovery trip over 3 years ago, and enjoyed real tea at their communal bar, I became a regular. I now come in to share tea with new friends or work colleagues. I come to be by myself, on weekdays when I want to work in peace but with a bit less quiet than in the solitude of home. Since I started working from home, Teance has become a place for me to do inspired work in, as well as relax in.
So, when I suggested to Niana that we co-host a tea and food workshop, she jumped at the chance. We have been playing together with what to serve by experimenting with flavor combinations like two kids in a candy store. I am thrilled about this new collaboration and suspect that this will be the first of many more to come.
Pairing tea with food can highlight entirely new flavors and features from both tea and food. Come celebrate the end of summer with us and treat your palate to our selection of seasonal flavors. We will pair three cold soups with three cold-brew teas from Teance's new Fogdog line-up. You will go home refreshed and armed with recipes and know-how to prepare the soups yourself. Teance is offering a special discount to all attendees on their products that night, so you can stock up to repeat the menu and host your own cold tea and soup pairing.
