Pinxtos are exquisite nibbles offered at urban bars and restaurants in the Basque Country. Also known as the Basque version of tapas, they hold their own, like the Basques themselves.
Camila just returned from leading her most recent tasting tour of San Sebastian, her favorite city in the world, eager to share some of the pintxos discovered (& devoured!) along the way.
She will introduce you to bar Antonio’s Arzak-Style Pintxo, working magic with humble potatoes, onion & egg. Atari's Prawn Skewer with its special vinaigrette is a beloved classic. Bar Ganbara's pan-seared Mushrooms are also legendary, with simple, rich sauce. And Eggplant Montadito is our new favorite open-faced sandwich for late summer/early fall.
Make every recipe along with Camila, or save some final steps to finish cooking in time for evening cocktail hour...these hearty snacks will come together to make a substantial lunch or dinner. Pour some fizzy txakoli wine or a vermut over ice, and savor your adventure into Basque country food.
